Create colour cut-away photo

Let’s do a colour cut-away effect photo.

  1. Let’s open a photo in Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Select Rectangular Marquee Tool.
  3. Draw the area you wanted.
  4. Right click and click on Select Inverse.
  5. Click on Adjustment Layer and select Hue/Saturation.
  6. In Hue/Saturation window, check the box for Colorize. Then change the Hue to 55, Saturation to 25, Lightness to +50. Click OK.
  7. Hold on Ctrl key and left click on Layer Mask Thumbnail.
  8. Right click and click on Select Inverse.
  9. Create a new layer. Now, make sure you change the background colour to black before your press Ctrl + Backspace key to fill it with black. It will look like this.
  10. Right click again and click on Deselect.
  11. Click on Add a layer style and click on Stroke.
  12. In the Layer Style window, change the stroke size to 2. Set the position from Outside to Inside. Then change the colour to white (you can set whatever stroke size and colour you like). Then click OK.
  13. Now change the Fill from 100% to 0%.
  14. Click on Add a layer style and click on Inner Grow.
  15. In the Layer Style window, change the blend mode from Screen to Normal. Set opacity to 50%. Change the colour to black (#000000). Change the elements size to 25 px. Finally click OK button.
  16. This is the final result you will be getting:
