Create high contrast with layers

Let create a high contrast photo by using layers.

Here is the steps:

  1. Let’s open a photo in Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Press on Ctrl + J to duplicate the original layer.
  3. Click on Add layer mask.
  4. Click on Image on the File menu and click Apply Image.
  5. In Apply Image window, click on OK.
  6. Press on Ctrl + J to duplicate the newly created mask layer.
  7. Select the mask layer. Then click on Image, then move over to Adjustments and click Invert.
  8. Change the layer palette from Normal to Screen for the top layer.
  9. Change the layer palette from Normal to Multiply for the second layer.
  10. Here is the comparison before and after the editing.
